Funded by a grant from the Michigan Humanities Council, we are pleased to be bringing the following events and programs to the Upper Peninsula. Our goal is to increase awareness of the environmental challenges now facing the great lakes due to climate change. All events save the daytime workshops at NMU are free and open to the public. We seek to encourage stewardship through Creative Responses to Place – Throughout the month of October, creative work generated by the community in response to the exhibition, Water Rising, will be collected in an ongoing basis. This work, along with creative responses generated in the community workshops will be collected and curated by the Marquette area Gallery Director and arts administrator, Pasqua Warstler. A follow-up exhibition featuring this work is planned for 2020 and will travel to locations in the upper peninsula. Note all proceeds from book sales and broadsheets will be donated to support the important environmental work of the Superior Watershed Partnership.
